Anthropology 131 Exercise | Answers
Archaeology of South America

The following are some interpretations of Moche iconography that have been put forth by various American and Peruvian archaeologists. Compare these with your answers to the Moche iconography exercise in ANTH 131. Read them as alternatives to your own interpretations; they are not necessarily more "right" or "wrong" than your answers. Are these interpretations convincing? Are your own interpretations more convincing? Why or why not? These are the kinds of questions to ask; avoid thinking of these answers as "right" and what is "wrong" and concentrate on understanding why certain approaches are better than others.
